Sexual dysfunction is common in patients with kidney disease, with a prevalence of up to 90% in men and women with chronic kidney disease. Fertility declines with the progression of kidney disease. Sexual dysfunction in women is characterized by sexual interest/arousal disorder, orgasmic disorder, and genitopelvic pain/penetration disorder in women. Sexual dysfunction in men is characterized by erectile disorder, hypoactive disorder, premature ejaculation, and delayed ejaculation. This webinar discusses the prevalence and pathophysiology of sexual dysfunction and fertility, diagnosis and treatment options, contraception, and interventions to improve communications about this underrecognized but important manifestation of kidney disease.
