Man-made or other natural disasters and or conflicts cause unplanned movements of people across borders. They also jeopardize patient care through shortages in vital medical supplies. When healthcare resources are both scarce and insecure, ethically justified principles of action are required to continue the treatment of patients. Chronic or acute kidney disease patients requiring replacement therapies are amongst the most vulnerable patient population in this regard and there are many unnoticed changes challenges to be considered.
