ISN Renal Pathology Working Group webinar: Prevalent regional diseases of the world – a practical approach and challenges in diagnosis

Recorded On: 06/17/2025

A wide variety of medical kidney diseases occur in different regions of the world. While some diseases appear relatively universal in most areas, others appear to be prevalent in specific geographic areas affecting the local populations, depending on the climate, occupation and unique etiologic considerations. In this age of global travel and emergence of disease variants, knowledge of the clinicopathological characteristics, the challenges in diagnosis and management of these selected regional entities is useful. This can provide a practical approach to identify the diseases, both regionally and globally.

Learning objectives:

- To be familiar with specific regional kidney diseases, interpretation of pathological findings and practical aspects
- Learn factors associated with disease eg climate, infections, local conditions
- Learn any diagnostic or therapeutic challenges and resources needed
