Speaker Biography

Dr Raja Ramachandran is a specialist in Renal Medicine and joined Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India in 2011 after completing his fellowship from the same Institute. During his fellowship he worked on Toll like receptor-9 polymorphism in SLE with and without nephritis

His primary field of interest is on glomerular diseases, economics of renal transplantation and pregnancy related-AKI. In glomerular diseases he has worked mainly on role of Tacrolimus in steroid resistant Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, difficult to manage steroid dependent minimal change disease and Modified Ponticelli Regimen resistant Idiopathic Membranous glomerulonephritis (MGN), role of genetics and PLA2R antibodies in Indian MGN cases and complement and kidney diseases.

Dr Ramachandran is a recipient of Bansal Oration (Young Investigator <35yrs) for his work on ‘Pathogenesis and Management of IMGN’ at Indian Society of Nephrology national conference ISNCON for the year 2014 and ISN Young Investigator Award (Developing country- Top Clinical Science) for his abstract ‘Tacrolimus combined with corticosteroids versus Modified Ponticelli Regimen in treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy: Randomized Control Trial’ at WCN 2015, Cape Town.
